BALFOUR DECLARATION SONG © 2017 by Judith S. Tellerman
Judith Tellerman’s Mother, Carol Tellerman z"l, a survivor of the Shoah, was born in Chelm where she heard Chassidim singing this Yiddish song, the Balfour Declaration, before WWII. Carol sang the song to Judith who realized it is an important historical work of art that should be preserved. She wrote an adaptation in English and composed an introduction and ending. Judith collaborated with her producer to create a musical arrangement and a broadcast quality recording.
Judith has just finished recording a song, the Balfour Declaration, in Yiddish, sung by the Jews in Chelm before WWII. In retrospect the restoration of Israel by the Balfour Declaration in 1917 appears to have been the impetus for the “Final Solution” mapped out by Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem in Berlin. She wrote the English adaptation and a nonverbal intro and ending.
